10 Home Remedies to Keep Your Taps Sparkling Clean
The bathroom has a really high utility so dirt plagues escalate quickly. Soap scum, rust and mildew develop on the surfaces, making the fixtures get soiled and lose their shine. Although there are many ready-to-use cleaning products, the simplest ways to polish your chrome taps can be found at home. They are better alternatives since they are so much safer and cheaper compared to those potentially corrosive and costly chemical cleaners.
The following are recommended home remedies you can use to transform your scummy chrome taps into shiny, brand-new looking ones:
Just add a minimal amount to the dirty areas of your fixtures and then polish it to shine. However, do not rub forcefully since toothpaste can be slightly too abrasive.
Vinegar is one of the most effective household cleaners. Just simply dip a cloth in white vinegar to clean your chrome surface. You may use an old toothbrush for areas that are hard to reach.
You can also fill a plastic bag with vinegar, securing it over your chrome fixtures using a rubber band. Let this sit for a few hours or overnight. After removing the plastic bag, make sure to wipe and dry the chrome.
Simply spread and rub the flour on your tap then rinse it with water. Preferably, leave the flour on for 30 minutes before rinsing. Afterwards, buff the tap with a soft cloth.
4. Baby Oil
To remove stains on your fixtures, coat and polish your tap with some baby oil on a cotton pad or cloth and watch your tap shine back at you.
5. Baking Soda
Simply make a paste by mixing the baking soda with water. Put it on the surface and leave it for a few minutes to remove the soap and mineral residues. Clean off with a soft damp cloth.
6. Soap and Water
This is essential for your routine maintenance. By using a mild soap diluted with water, you can remove the soap scum and mineral deposits before they build up in a noticeable quantity.
Rub a lemon rind over the areas on your taps that are covered with residues. Rinse well with water and wipe with a soft dry cloth.
8. Aluminum Foil
There are accumulated spots and stains in the taps that do not come off simply by the use of ordinary soap and water. Rather, make use of an aluminum foil scrunched like a ball and dip it into soapy water. Gently scrub the rusty part to remove it but do not apply too much pressure. Rubbing it too forcefully will expose the chrome to oxygen, providing more opportunity to rust.If this method still fails,, substitute the soapy solution for Coca-Cola or vinegar since they have more acidic components. Rinse with fresh water afterwards.
9. Vinegar and Rubbing Alcohol
Mix 1 tablespoon of vinegar, 1 cup of rubbing alcohol, and another cup of water in a spray bottle. This will be an effective cleaner that will give your chrome tap a nice shine.
10. Dryer Sheets
After all the scrubbing and application of cleaning substances, ensure that the chrome tap is dried thoroughly and well. Chrome is known for developing water spots. Use a soft, dry towel or some dryer softener sheets to buff over the entire object.
